Embassy representatives reported that the Karachi Consulate and US Embassy in Islamabad issued the highest number of visas ever recorded in 2023. They project this figure will climb even higher by October 2024, driven by increasing demand from Pakistani applicants.
In a significant development, the waiting period for visa appointments has been cut nearly in half, from 440 days to 230 days. For applicants who have already submitted their paperwork, the embassy has implemented an email-based review system to expedite the process.
Officials emphasized that each application undergoes individual scrutiny, with decisions typically rendered within three to four working days after the interview. Addressing concerns about costs, an embassy spokesperson clarified that only standard, globally consistent application fees are charged.
The rising number of visas issued reflects growing interest among Pakistanis in US travel, motivated by educational pursuits, business opportunities, and personal reasons. The embassy’s efforts to optimize the application process and reduce wait times demonstrate a commitment to improving service for Pakistani visa seekers.
As 2024 progresses, all indicators point to a new record for US visas issued to Pakistani nationals, underscoring the strengthening ties between the two countries.
