The National Emergencies Operation Centre warned Friday of potential urban flooding in parts of Punjab and Sindh due to forecasted heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.

Meteorologists predict scattered showers in Punjab’s Potohar region, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Sahiwal. Heavier downpours are expected in Bahawalpur, Multan, and Dera Ghazi Khan.
In Sindh, areas including Mithi, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Matiari, Jamshoro, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Khairpur, Thatta, Badin, Chhor, Padidan, Sujawal, Karachi, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu may experience scattered rainfall with heavy falls.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has instructed relevant departments to prepare for possible flooding and extreme weather. Residents in affected areas are advised to:
- Avoid flood waters and seek safe locations
- Ensure proper sealing of roofs and windows
- Clear gutters and drainage systems
- Secure loose outdoor items
- Use alternative routes to bypass flood-prone areas
- Be cautious of open manholes and submerged obstacles
- Unplug electrical appliances during heavy rains
The NDMA has launched a disaster alert application, available on Google Play Store and iOS App Store, to provide timely alerts and guidelines.
The Met Office forecasts rain-windstorm/thundershower with chances of scattered heavy falls and isolated very heavy falls across Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad over the next 24 hours.
