Murtaza emphasized that targeting individuals based on their political affiliations could weaken the state. He asserted that the PPP has prioritized national interests over party gains to bolster the country’s strength.
The PPP leader expressed opposition to including unelected and apolitical figures in government, arguing it diminishes political forces. He clarified that while the party doesn’t support army generals, it stands with the country’s armed forces.
Murtaza attributed the PPP’s current political standing to the sacrifices made by party workers in their struggle against military dictatorships.
Rana Farooq Saeed, another party leader, highlighted the PPP’s role in combating dictatorship and guiding the nation through challenging periods. He drew parallels between Pakistan’s past and the ongoing crisis in Bangladesh, suggesting that timely negotiations with Bengali leaders might have prevented historical conflicts.
The ceremony was attended by several PPP officials and supporters, including Shahada Jabin, Haji Azizur Rahman Chan, Allama Yusuf Awan, and others.
This gathering underscored the PPP’s commitment to democratic principles and its historical stance against military rule, while calling for national unity and political tolerance.
