The Pakistani contingent at the Paris Olympics has been further reduced as two more athletes failed to advance in their respective events. This leaves only two competitors to represent the nation in the ongoing games.

Faiqa Riaz, competing in the 100-meter sprint, finished sixth in her heat with a time of 12.49 seconds, insufficient to secure a place in the final round. In the shooting events, Kasmala Talat placed 22nd among 40 participants in the 25-meter air pistol competition, also missing out on a finals berth.

These eliminations follow the earlier exits of two swimmers and shooter Gulfam Joseph, bringing the total number of Pakistani athletes out of the competition to five. The remaining hopes for Pakistan now rest on shooter Ghulam Bashir and javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem.

The Pakistani team has faced significant challenges throughout the event, with many athletes unable to progress beyond the preliminary stages. This performance reflects broader issues in Pakistani sports, including limited resources and inadequate training facilities.

Despite these setbacks, the athletes’ participation in the Olympics remains a notable achievement. Their determination in the face of tough international competition has been evident.

As the games continue, attention turns to Bashir and Nadeem. Their upcoming performances will be crucial for Pakistan’s prospects of securing medals in this year’s Olympics.

The national Olympic committee has yet to comment on the team’s overall performance. Sports analysts suggest that a comprehensive review of the country’s Olympic program may be necessary to improve future results.
