In an unprecedented weather event, Lahore was inundated by a staggering 350 millimeters of rainfall within a mere three-hour span, breaking a 44-year-old record. The city’s infrastructure buckled under the weight of this massive deluge, resulting in widespread flooding and disruption.
Key thoroughfares, including Mall Road and Ferozepur Road, were submerged, bringing traffic to a standstill. The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) reported that 288 feeders were compromised, plunging large swathes of the city into darkness.
The impact of the torrential rains extended beyond the streets, with homes and even Services Hospital facing flooding, severely hampering daily life and healthcare services. Lahore airport bore the brunt of the downpour, recording a peak rainfall of 337 millimeters.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued alerts for continued heavy rainfall across the country until August 6. This sustained precipitation is attributed to potent monsoon currents originating from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
