Two separate explosions in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province resulted in two fatalities and five injuries on Saturday, according to local police and rescue officials.
In Dera Ismail Khan’s Gilani Town, an air conditioner compressor exploded inside a residence, killing one person and injuring four others. The deceased was identified as Zulfiqar, 48. The injured, all from the same family visiting from Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab, included Maryum Bibi, 45, Amna Bibi, 21, Rania, 16, and Ayan, 12. Rescue 1122 teams transported the victims to a nearby hospital. The blast caused significant structural damage, collapsing one room of the house.

In a separate incident in Hangu district, an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a vegetable-carrying vehicle on Friday night. One of the two injured, Safeerullah from Bannu district, succumbed to his injuries at a Peshawar hospital early Saturday. The other victim, Mir Afzal, remains under treatment.
Local police estimate that 4-5 kilograms of explosives were used in the Hangu attack. An official, speaking anonymously, suggested that the attackers may have mistaken the civilian vehicle for a police van.
Authorities have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched an investigation into the Hangu incident. These events highlight the ongoing security challenges in the region, with civilian casualties resulting from both accidental and intentional explosions.
